There’s something extra special about families who show up with full hearts and positive attitudes — even after a long drive — and the Ranson family did exactly that. They drove several hours straight to meet me for an early morning session on the Foothills Parkway, and from the very start, it was clear this session was going to be a good one.

Staci had her heart set on incorporating the stone wall along the Foothills Parkway into their session. It’s such a simple feature, but it adds a timeless, textured backdrop that photographs beautifully. We made sure to spend time there, and I love how it paired with the soft whites and blues of the morning sky — a color palette Staci was especially drawn to.

This family is truly beautiful, inside and out. Their connection came through so naturally, making my job easy. Whether they were walking along the parkway, cuddled close, or simply enjoying the view together, every moment felt genuine and relaxed.

And then there’s little Rhett — what an absolute joy. He smiles with his whole being, the kind of smile that instantly makes everyone around him smile too. He was especially entertained by all the cars and motorcycles driving by, waving and watching them with wide-eyed excitement. Those little in-between moments are some of my favorites to capture, and Rhett gave us plenty of them.

Sessions like this are a reminder of why I love what I do. Capturing families in this season of life, preserving the small details and big emotions, is always an honor. The Ranson family trusted me to document these memories, and I’m so grateful they chose me.
