Some sessions don’t go exactly as planned… and they end up being even better because of it.

The Noble family visited the Smoky Mountains with Ashley’s sister, Alannah, ready for a fun evening capturing their time together. Ashley and Derrick brought along their adorable little boy, Jackson — and from the very beginning, I knew this was going to be a fun one. I may say it often, but I really do have a soft spot for little boys… and Jackson made it easy. He is just the cutest!

Not long after we got started, we were surprised with a little pop-up rain shower. Instead of calling it quits, we made the best of it — taking a few breaks in the car, waiting it out, and jumping right back into photos when we could. Honestly, those little pauses just added to the adventure.

And by the end of the session? Jackson was all giggles.

Those are always my favorite moments — when the pressure is gone, everyone relaxes, and the real personalities come out. That’s where the magic happens.

But the most special part of this session came right at the end.

Ashley and Derrick shared the sweetest surprise — they’re expecting baby #2! Getting to capture that announcement was such an honor. There is something so meaningful about freezing a moment like that in time… the excitement, the anticipation, and all the love this family already has.

Jackson is going to make the best big brother, and I have no doubt this next chapter will be just as joyful (and maybe a little more lively 😉).

Rain or shine, sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do. It’s not about perfect conditions — it’s about real moments, real connection, and telling your story exactly as it unfolds.
