One thing I’ve learned as a photographer in the Smokies is that flexibility is everything. The Garrett Family’s session was the perfect reminder that even when plans change at the last minute, something really special can still unfold.

We originally had a different location planned, but after heavy rain the day before, a landslide on the Gatlinburg Bypass made it impossible to access. With safety in mind, we quickly pivoted and chose a new spot. And honestly? It could not have turned out better. This is one of those families that truly photographs beautifully anywhere.

From the moment we started, the kids were a joy to work with. They were easygoing, cooperative, and full of personality all at the same time—the best combination for genuine, natural photos. There was laughter, curiosity, and those in-between moments that tell a story far beyond a posed smile.

Sessions like this are a great reminder that perfection isn’t about sticking to the original plan. It’s about connection, trust, and being present in the moment. Even with a last-minute change, we created images that feel relaxed, joyful, and true to who this family is right now.

I’m so grateful to Lacey for trusting me and rolling with the changes so effortlessly. Thank you for choosing me to capture these memories for your family. I loved every minute of this session and am so excited to share more favorites from our time together.
