There’s something so special about photographing families while they’re on vacation — everyone is a little more relaxed, present, and ready to soak in the moment. The Jennings Family traveled all the way from Missouri to spend time together in the Great Smoky Mountains, and I loved getting to be a small part of their trip.

This was such an easygoing group from the very beginning. Even though they were visiting during one of the busiest car show weekends of the season (which definitely made getting around the area a bit more challenging), they rolled with it effortlessly. On top of that, Cades Cove being closed meant our location was busier than usual — but sometimes a little flexibility leads to great results, and that was absolutely the case here.

Despite the crowds, we found some beautiful spots and captured so many sweet moments. Their son, Sam, was incredibly polite and kind — the kind of kid who makes a photo session feel smooth and enjoyable. I always appreciate when families come in with relaxed expectations and trust the process, and the Jennings Family did just that.

What I love most about this session is how genuinely happy they were together. The laughter, the easy smiles, and the simple joy of being together in a beautiful place all came through so naturally in their images. These are the kinds of photos that aren’t just about what the mountains looked like — they’re about what this season of life felt like.

Thank you, Dena, for trusting me to capture your family during your Smoky Mountain vacation. I hope these photos always bring back memories of your time here and the moments you shared together.
