When I’m not taking photos of families, I love to take photos of the local area. I couple this with location scouting for new places to have family photo sessions. One of my family’s favorite places to visit in the Smokies is Cades Cove. This is a popular spot for EVERYONE that visits the Smokies, so the times of year we can visit without crowds is limited.
We found a day to visit recently during my boys’ spring break from school. It was a beautiful season transition time in Cades Cove. The spring flowers were starting to bloom while the evergreens still hung on to their pinecones reminiscent of the winter that we just left behind.
Besides the lovely blooms, my family loves exploring the rustic cabins still standing in the area. These cabins and homesteads show the younger generation a part of the past that is hard for them to imagine in this day and age. How could people live without running water? Not to mention TV or wifi. We also must always visit the mill that marks the midway point of Cades Cove.
More times than not during our explorations of this area, we will come across wildlife that call this place home. We did not see any deer this trip (odd), but we did see quite a few turkeys and this coyote. We had a disagreement within the family if this was indeed a coyote or a red wolf. I had to take to social media to verify for sure. It was nearly unanimous that we did find a coyote.
If you would be interested in having your family photos taken in the beautiful, historic place, reach out and we can explore together.
