Some photo sessions come with unexpected twists, and this one is a perfect example of how going with the flow can lead to something beautiful. The Penry family had originally planned their session at another location, but we found out—on the very same day—that construction had started there. So, with a quick pivot and a flexible spirit, we changed gears and made our way to a couple of alternate spots around Gatlinburg.

Alex mentioned she really wanted variety in their session, so we started with a scenic mountain overlook that gave us those dreamy Smoky Mountain backdrops. From there, we ventured to a nearby trail that led us to a charming bridge tucked away in the trees. The change of scenery ended up working in our favor, offering a mix of wide-open landscapes and forested paths for a well-rounded gallery.

Baby Harry was all smiles—he couldn’t have been more photogenic! And big sister Charlotte brought the spunk and energy that makes photographing young kids so much fun. She was happy to be there and full of personality, which, as any parent knows, is half the battle during family photos.

One of the things I loved most about this session was how relaxed and kind the whole family was. Despite the unexpected location switch, they embraced the adventure and trusted the process. It was such a pleasure capturing their joy, their connection, and this sweet season of life.

Thank you again, Penry family, for allowing me to be part of your Smoky Mountain memories!
