This summer I had the absolute joy of photographing the Volion family, who traveled all the way from Louisiana for a much-needed Smoky Mountain vacation. And let me tell you — they brought the southern charm, the fun, and the good vibes with them!

Despite the summer heat (and let’s be real, it was hot), this crew never missed a beat. Coming from Louisiana, they were already pros when it comes to heat and humidity, so they handled the Tennessee sun like champs. Everyone showed up with great attitudes and big smiles — it made my job so easy.

We started the session on the front porch of their cabin, taking advantage of the stunning mountain views. It was the perfect backdrop to capture those sweet generational moments. Then we made our way down the hill into the shade for a few more relaxed groupings under the trees. The light, the laughter, and the connections between everyone were just magic.

One of my favorite parts of the session was getting to meet baby Gemma — she was such a little star! She waved, she smiled, and she absolutely stole the show from start to finish. Every family group I photographed had their own energy, but the love running through this whole extended family was unmistakable.

Casey, thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your family’s time in the Smokies. It’s always an honor to document moments like these — full of joy, togetherness, and memories that will last long after vacation ends.
