Sometimes the weather doesn’t cooperate, and sometimes it gives you magic. Yesterday, Rachel and Devin proved that a little rain can’t stop true love—or an adventurous couple!

This sweet couple recently got engaged and are planning their wedding for next year. When we planned their session, the forecast looked… well, soggy. Rain had been falling all day yesterday, even causing some flooding in the area. On the morning of our session, a constant light drizzle lingered over the mountains. I asked Rachel if she wanted to reschedule, but she said, “Let’s go for it!” And I am so glad she did.

Despite the drizzle, the Smoky Mountains were absolutely dreamy. The misty backdrop created a soft, romantic atmosphere that made every shot feel like it came straight out of a fairytale. Rachel and Devin were up for anything—climbing little trails, laughing through the drizzle, and embracing every moment.

We ended the session with a little extra rain, but that gave us the perfect opportunity for one of my favorite shots: the umbrella moment. It’s so fun when my couples are willing to be playful and adventurous—it always makes the photos extra special.
