Some sessions touch my heart in a way that’s hard to put into words—this was one of them. When Michelle called me to schedule an engagement session with her fiancé, Ralph (aka Coach Kidd), I couldn’t have been more excited. These two are so special to me, not only because of their love story, but because of the history I share with both of them.

Michelle and I go way back—we played softball together in high school and college, which means we’ve shared plenty of big milestones and memories through the years. And Ralph? Well, most people know him as “Coach Kidd,” but to me, he’ll always be the coach who pushed me through middle school basketball. At the time I thought he was so old (sorry, Coach 😅), but looking back, he was just in his early 20s, teaching us much more than basketball.

This was my first time spending real time with them as a couple, and it was so evident how perfect they are for one another. Their love is rooted in faith, laughter, and such a natural ease that made photographing them a complete joy.

The day of our session, the weather wasn’t exactly on our side. It rained off and on ALL day long. But the Smoky Mountains have a way of surprising you. We found a pocket where the skies opened up, the haze lifted just enough, and we had the most breathtaking backdrop for their photos. It was a little further than I originally planned, but absolutely worth it.

By the end of the evening, I couldn’t help but tear up (just me, not them 😂). I had to let them know how truly happy I am for them. To see two people I’ve known for so long find this kind of love is such a gift, and I feel so blessed to have captured these moments for them.

Michelle & Ralph, thank you for trusting me with this session. Your love is inspiring, and I can’t wait to see all that God has in store for your future together. 💛
