When Nick contacted me about planning a proposal to Gabriela during their trip from Florida, he knew exactly what he wanted. The plan was to propose while enjoying the stunning mountain views from a pull-off on the Foothills Parkway, a spot that offered breathtaking scenery. However, as is often the case when it comes to proposals, things didn’t quite go according to plan—thanks to Mother Nature!

On the day of the proposal, the winds in the mountains were so fierce that the National Park Service had to close the road to our meeting spot. This meant we had to make a last-minute change, but luckily, I had warned Nick that this might happen. We quickly switched to our Plan B location: Metcalf Bottoms. This area has a lovely walking trail by a serene river, and while it might not have been the mountain views Nick had envisioned, it was still an incredibly beautiful spot for a proposal.

But even with our backup plan in place, the logistics didn’t go quite as smoothly as we’d hoped. The area had no cell service, and when I arrived at the meeting spot, I couldn’t find Nick and Gabriela. I waited for about 10 minutes before realizing that we were probably missing each other. After a bit of panic, I decided to drive out and try to get cell service. As I made my way out, I got a message from Nick saying he was headed to meet me! I quickly turned around, relieved, and headed back to our meeting spot.

When I returned, I saw Nick and Gabriela parking their car. I walked across the bridge to the walking trail, pretending to take pictures of the river, so I wouldn’t give away the surprise. As they strolled hand in hand down the trail, I quietly followed them, making sure to stay out of sight. My heart was racing because I knew what was about to happen, and I didn’t want to spoil it.

Nick found the perfect spot by the river, dropped to one knee, and asked Gabriela to be his wife. The moment was absolutely perfect—Gabriela’s reaction was priceless, and of course, she said YES! There was so much emotion in the air, and I’m so honored to have captured this beautiful moment for them.

After the proposal, we walked back down the trail for a few more photos, showing off Gabriela’s stunning engagement ring and capturing some more moments of their love. Gabriela did mention afterward that she had wondered why we were being followed, but she wasn’t worried because Nick seemed so calm and unbothered—just as every groom-to-be should be!

It was a truly special day, and despite the changes and the unexpected bumps along the way, everything came together perfectly. Congratulations, Nick and Gabriela! I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness, and I’m so grateful to have been part of this unforgettable moment.
