Sometimes, the best memories come from the unexpected moments, and the Junior family’s photo session in the Smokies was certainly one of those. They were visiting from Alabama, and we had been planning their family photos for a while. The weekend had been a mix of anticipation and uncertainty, thanks to a rare snowstorm that blanketed the South. I won’t lie, there were several times I considered canceling the session. The snow made travel tricky, and I wasn’t sure if it would be safe to meet up.
But something told me not to give up. The Junior family was already here, visiting the Smokies, and rescheduling would be tough. I’m so glad I stuck with it because the snow ended up creating the most magical backdrop for their session.
We met up on a wintery day, and even though the weather was a bit unpredictable, the Junior family was in high spirits. We initially tried to keep out of the snow by taking photos in a pavilion, hoping to stay a bit warmer. But the snowflakes were falling so beautifully that I couldn’t resist encouraging them to step into the snow. And I’m so glad I did! The way the snowflakes gently danced around them added such a dreamy, winter wonderland vibe to their photos.
The snow didn’t slow them down. In fact, it made everything feel even more special. It was one of those rare moments when everything just clicked—the beautiful family, the gorgeous scenery, and the snow transforming the day into something extraordinary.
It’s not every day that you get a chance to photograph a family in a snowstorm in the Smokies, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity. The Junior family’s love and laughter were infectious, and I’m so glad I was able to capture their time in the mountains, snowflakes and all.
Thank you, Junior family, for trusting me to capture these precious memories. Even though the weather was a bit wild, it made for some truly unforgettable photos. I can’t wait to see where your next adventures take you!
