As the summer days begin to wane and the excitement of a new school year approaches, there’s no better time for a back-to-school photo session. This year, I had the joy of photographing two very special models: my son Evan, who is embarking on his junior high journey, and Kinley, who is stepping into the world of pre-k. The session was a delightful mix of fun, energy, and a touch of teenage reluctance, and I’m thrilled with how the photos turned out.

Evan has always been a bit of a reluctant model when it comes to my photo sessions. The teenage years seem to bring a certain hesitancy to being in front of the camera, and I completely understand. But as always, he was a good sport and managed to channel his inner cool despite the occasional sigh and eye roll.

We chose a classic back-to-school look for Evan, complete with his new flannel and a crisp, fresh haircut that showed off his style. As we snapped away, it became clear that despite his reluctance, Evan had a natural ease in front of the camera.
